#FlyBoys Announce Additions of Winterstein and Ingram to Coaching Staff

Tommy Winterstein And Zack Ingram Join The Flyers This Fall

DAYTON – The University of Dayton baseball team and head coach Jayson King have announced the additions of Tommy Winterstein and Zack Ingram to the coaching staff for the 2023-24 campaign.

Winterstein will join the staff as the new pitching coach, while Ingram joins as the program's third assistant.

"We're excited to add Tommy and Zack to our staff for the coming season," said Jayson King. "Both guys come in with a wealth of knowledge and are hungry to help our student-athletes be champions on and off the diamond."

A native of Columbia, S.C., Winterstein joins the Flyers after spending the last two seasons as the pitching coach at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. As one of the top prep schools in the country, Winterstein worked as the post-graduate level pitching coordinator which won 33 games in 2022 and held a .692 winning percentage in 2023. He also served as a roving pitching instructor for the varsity teams and helped major and minor league pitchers in the offseason with workouts.

Prior to his time at IMG, Winterstein was the pitching coach for two seasons at the University of Toledo where the staff set the single-season record for strikeouts (403) in 24 fewer innings than the previous record. Winterstein also spent three seasons at Western Kentucky as the program's volunteer assistant coach and camp director.

Winterstein began his collegiate career at Furman before transferring to the University of South Carolina-Lancaster. There he recorded an ERA of 2.18 across 10 appearances and hit .398 with 23 RBIs. Winterstein then transferred to Charleston Southern, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration.

Ingram comes to Dayton after spending the 2023 season at Birmingham Southern College, helping the Panthers to a 39-11 record on the season. As the volunteer assistant and pitching coach, Ingram helped Birmingham Southern one of the top teams in NCAA Division III, as three pitchers were named to the All-Region team and four to the All-Southern Athletic Association team. Included in the honorees was the SAA Pitcher of the Year and second-team All-American Hansen McCown.

The Flyers' newest coach played collegiately at Mississippi College where he was a two-time All-Gulf South Conference honoree, a three-time GSC Academic Honor Roll, and a member of the 2018 Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship team.
