STATS, LLC – University of Dayton redshirt freshman quarterback
Drew VanVleet has been named a finalist for the 2024 STATS Perform Jerry Rice Award. Â The Rice Award honors the national freshman of the year in Division I FCS college football.
The QB from Richmond, Ind. has completed 104 of 157 passes (.662) for 1,229 yards, with 15 touchdowns against four interceptions. Â He leads the Pioneer Football League in passing efficiency (158.43) and passing TDs. Â
He is the top-ranked freshman in FCS football in passing efficiency (11th overall) and completion percentage (23rd overall) .
Earlier this season at Marist, he was 25 of 35 passing for 323 yards and a Dayton -freshman five touchdowns. Â Following that game, he was named the Stats Perform National FCS Freshman of the Week.
Dayton is 5-1 overall this season and 3-0 in the PFL. Â The Flyers are one of three teams still undefeated in PFL play.
