LAST TIME OUT
Dayton had a historic outing last weekend at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational hosted by Indiana State University. Multiple Flyers set new personal bests and finished in the top five while two school records fell.
Jadyn Haywood was one of the Flyers' brightest stars as she set a school record in the 100m of 11.41 and anchored the 4x100m team that set the school record in 46.06. Seven other athletes finished in the top five of their events including
Anna Newkirk getting third in the 5,000m,
Anna Kessler finishing fifth in the 100m,
Jameson Pillifant finishing fourth and setting a new PR in the 400m hurdles, the 4x400m team coming second,
Jillian Yates and
Maggie Hofner taking fourth and fifth in the hammer throw with a new PR for Hofner, and
Camryn Thompson finishing fourth in the high jump.
The Flyers' two javelin throwers,
Daniela Peralta and
Casey Bogues, traveled to Texas to compete in the Texas Relays where they finished seventh and eighth in their respective divisions. Peralta threw a mark of 40.34m in the B division and Bogues threw 46.22m in the A division.
FLYERS IN ACTION
The Flyers will have 16 athletes in Tennessee and 11 athletes in Cincinnati this weekend. Haywood looks to replicate her performances from last weekend when she competes in the 100m and 4x100m at Tennessee. Joining her in the 4x100m will be the rest of the school-record-holding team,
Lianna Shakoor,
Charlotte Deines, and
Anna Kessler. Dayton will be well-represented in the throwing events at Tennessee, as Bogues and Peralta will both compete in the javelin throw while four other throwers, Hofner, Yates,
Rebekah Conrad, and
Jillian Yates will step into the circle.
In Cincinnati,
Bryn Hothem and
Anna Newkirk will both double in the 1,500m and the 5,000m while
Tamia Hameed will compete in a non-relay event for the first time this season as she is scheduled to race the 100m and 200m. Last year at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, the Flyers showed out with nine top-five finishes and 13 PRs and hope for an equally strong showing this time out.
