DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team returns home for a Friday night showdown against La Salle as the Flyers take on the Explorers on Alumnae Night at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.
UD will honor two of its Atlantic 10-leading 11 A10 Tournament Champions, including the first champions in program history from 1996. There will also be an homage to the 2016 A10 champs.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ by the student-run FlyerTV crew.
CANNISTRARO NAMED A10 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior keeper
Kasey Cannistraro was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Cannistraro turned in two strong performances to help the Flyers stay unbeaten in A10 play, stopping all five shots she faced against Saint Louis in Thursday night's 0-0 draw, setting a new high as a Flyer, and then turning aside four shots at Loyola Chicago for her fourth consecutive clean sheet.
Cannistraro is the first Flyer to earn a weekly award in the 2026 season.
ALUMNAE NIGHT – CELEBRATING TWO FLYER CHAMPIONSHIPS
2026 marks two milestones for the UD women's soccer program, most notably it is the 30th anniversary of the first championship in program history.
It is also the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship, one of the most improbable titles in program history.
The Flyers will celebrate the two championship squads on Friday, Oct. 2 prior to their match against La Salle.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton played the majority of Sunday's match against Loyola Chicago a player down, but keeper
Kasey Cannistraro's fourth consecutive shutout helped the Flyers leave town with a point after a 0-0 draw at Loyola Soccer Park.
UD (4-5-2, 1-0-2 A10) played a player down courtesy of first half red card sustained in the 36th minute. Despite the advantage, Loyola (4-2-4, 1-0-2 A10) was unable to produce any offense thanks to Dayton's stifling defense and stellar play in the midfield.
Cannistraro highlighted the defensive effort, stopping all four of the Ramblers shots. The Flyers' back line of
Lauren Fields,
Eva Schreiber, Bre Mendez and
Caroline Schork stood tall against Loyola's attack.
With only 10 players, Dayton still managed seven shots in the second half, led by junior midfielder
Liv Grenda who had three. The Flyers' three shots on goal came from Grenda,
Olivia Baca and
Lauryn Contini.

Caroline Schork put together a fantastic performance in Saturday night's 5-0 win over St. Bonaventure. Schork was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week for her accomplishment
AGAINST THE EXPLORERS
Dayton and La Salle have a history that dates back to the early days of the Flyers' women's soccer team, having first played in the 1992 season. UD owns the overall edge in the series, 22-11-2, and are 13-2-1 against the Explorers at home.
La Salle's last victory at Baujan Field was a 1-0 triumph over the Flyers in the 2006 season.
