FLYERS VIE FOR EIGHTH A-10 TOURNEY TITLE
The Flyers are the No. 3 seed at the 19th Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship, to be hosted Nov. 3, 4 & 6 at Baujan Field, on the campus of the University of Dayton. Making a league-record 16th straight Championship appearance and vying for its eighth overall and third consecutive A-10 Championship crown, Dayton will play No. 6 seed Charlotte this Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Prior to UD’s game is the 5 p.m. quarterfinal game pitting No. 4 seed Massachusetts against No. 5 seed St. Bonaventure. No. 1 seed La Salle and No. 2 seed Richmond earned first-round byes.
DAYTON’S A-10 BACKGROUND
• Dayton has won the A-10 Tournament Championship more than any other team in the conference: seven times (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010).
• UD has also won or shared 10 A-10 Regular Season titles (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010). The next closest is Massachusetts with five.
• The Flyers are 19-7 all-time in the conference tournament. Their .731 winning percentage is the best in the conference. Of the other teams in the tournament field this year, Charlotte’s and Richmond’s .636 winning percentage (7-4) is next best. The 49ers have won the title twice and the Spiders have once. UMass has a .563 winning percentage (9-7) and has won the tournament title four times. La Salle and St. Bonaventure are both 1-4 in tourney action and have never advanced to a final.
• Dayton has reached the finals nine times and is 7-2 in the championship game.

SERIES INFORMATION
VS. CHARLOTTE: Charlotte leads the Flyers 3-5-1 in the all-time series record, although Dayton has won the last three. UD is coming off a 3-1 victory over the 49ers, their final regular season game on Oct. 30. For the past two years these two teams have met up in the final of the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship. In the 2010 Atlantic 10 Tournament final, Dayton upset the No. 1 seed 49ers by a score of 4-3 in double overtime. UD’s
Alexis Garcia scored the game winning goal on her way to being named the A-10 Tournaments Most Outstanding Player.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Charlotte: Charlotte comes to Baujan Field with a 7-9-4 record. Senior Macky Wingo leads the team in goals (7) and assists (4). She is also second in the A-10 for shots (77), third in shots per game (3.85), 10th in points (18) and 10th in points per game (.90).

Kelsey Smigel was named the Atlantic 10 women’s soccer Rookie of the Week and junior
Colleen Williams was honored as the Co-Player of the Week for games through Oct. 30. Its the third honor for each player. Smigel was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s College National Team of the Week. She scored three goals and had an assist. Williams had two goals and two assists this week. She led the Flyers with six shots on goal. Williams now has 12 goals and 12 assists on the season, and with her four points Sunday vs. Charlotte she is up to 107 career points, tied for second all-time at Dayton with Missy Gregg. She needs seven points to become UD’s all-time points leader, currently 113 held by Karen Kazmaier (1985-87). Williams is already UD’s career assists leader with 33. She became just the third Flyer women’s soccer player to score more than 100 points. This is the third A-10 Player of the Week honor for Williams this season.

WILLY’S WISH
The University of Dayton women’s soccer team is continuing Willy’s Wish –Dollars for Dayton for the second consecutive season. Last year the Flyers fundraised more than $1,000 for a family in Dayton. Individuals are asked to donate just $1. The UD women’s soccer team will be collecting the $1 donations at their remaining four home games (Oct. 21, 23, 28 & 30). Willy’s Wish collection boxes will be located at both entrances of Baujan Field. GOING GREEN
The Flyers will wear neon green shoe laces to support research in curing pediatric cancer. The shoelaces were provided by the Go4theGoal Foundation, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to children and their families affected by cancer, with the ultimate goal of curing cancer by funding innovative research and providing financial support to patients and their families.

Colleen Williams, a native of Titusville, N.J., leads the Atlantic 10 in assists (12) and assists per game (0.63). She is tied for first in points (36) and third in goals (12). Last season she was tied for second in the nation in points (48).
NATIONALLY-RANKED UD
The Flyers (16-3-0) moved back to No. 1 in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region rankings, after being No. 2 last week. The Flyers have been ranked No. 1 for eight of 11 times this season. UD reached as high as No. 15 in the NSCAA National Rankings. Dayton is currently receiving 12 votes and comes in at No. 29. UD is ranked No.31 in the TopDrawerSoccer Tournament 64 Rankings. The Flyers are No. 31 in the latest NCAA RPI (Oct. 26).
LIVING THE AMERICAN DREAM

Katrin Loo were featured in Our Game Magazine article “Living and Playing the American Dream” that focused on international players competing for U.S. NCAA Division I women’s soccer programs. Loo is a sophomore forward from Tallinn, Estonia who plays on the Estonian national team. Grant is a senior forward from Wigton, England and played at the Blackburn Rovers Academy.
BELIEVIN’ IN BAUJAN
The Flyers are 185-54-18 all-time in games played at Baujan Field. There have been 257 UD women’s soccer games played at the historic venue and the Flyers own a .755 winning percentage in those matches. Dayton is 8-1-0 this season at home.

Juliana Libertin, a member of the 2010 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, has already scored eight goals this year, eclipsing her two goals scored in her freshman season. She is currently the third leading scorer on the team (8 g, 7 a, 23 pts). Her golden goal against Northwestern on Aug. 28 led the Flyers to the Lakeside Classic Championship. She also scored the game winner against Kentucky on Sept. 17. She is currently tied for sixth in the A-10 for points.
ONE OF THE NATION’S BEST
University of Dayton junior forward
Colleen Williams is among 42 female athletes named to the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy Watch List for the 2011 season. She was also one of 25 players selected as a Soccer America Preseason All-American. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer. Her 12 assists are ranked fourth in the nation. Williams is averaging 1.89 ppg which is 20th best in the nation. She is also sixth in the NCAA in assists per game (.63).

Dayton’s freshmen have already made an impact.

Haley Keller has scored three goals, including two game-winning goals, and also added an assist in 18 games played with one start.

Colleen Williams was named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week and she also headlined the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s College Team of the Week as the National Player of the Week. The Titusville, N.J. native was also named the SoccerSavings.com/Philly Soccer News Women’s College Player of the Week for the week ending August 21. She was also selected to the Soccer America Women’s Team of the Week. Williams began the 2011 campaign with a bang, scoring 10 points in Dayton’s first two games to lead the Flyers to a pair of victories. She scored two goals and had an assist in UD’s 7-2 win over Middle Tennessee State in the season opener. She repeated that two-goal, one-assist performance with the game-winner in a 3-1 victory over Cal Poly in UD’s home opener.
FLYERS PICKED FOR A-10 THREE-PEAT
The 10-time Atlantic 10 women’s soccer regular season champion University of Dayton was chosen to win its third consecutive conference title, in voting conducted among the league’s head coaches. The Flyers also led the way with six players selected to the Preseason A-10 All-Conference (

By winning percentage, the Dayton junior class is the secod best in the country. The juniors were 16-1-6 as freshmen, 19-3-1 as sophomores and 16-3-0 this season. That’s an .838 winning percentage. Only Stanford’s junior class is higher at .951.
FLYER SUCCESS
The Dayton women’s soccer program owns an overall record of 375-153-40 (.695) since it became a varsity program in 1984. The Flyers made NCAA Tournament Appearances in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009 and 2010, advancing to the second round in both 2009 and 2010 and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2001.
