OUTDOOR TABBED SEVENTH IN ATLANTIC 10 BY COACHES

Jan. 31, 2006

The University of Dayton women's outdoor track team was selected to place seventh in this year's A-10 Championship, according to the official A-10 Spring Season Coaches' Poll. The Flyers are expected to finish one spot better than last season.

Rhode Island and Charlotte each received an equal number of votes from the coaches for the championship title. Charlotte is new to the A-10 conference this season. Duquesne, Richmond, La Salle, and Temple are predicted to place ahead of the Flyers. St. Joseph's, Massachusetts, Fordham, and Xavier are expected to follow.

The Flyers are looking for their best A-10 Championship ever this season, after coming in eighth in 2005. Senior Kelly Pohlman will return as a strong member of the team who won the A-10 Shot Put title the past two years in a row. She has already earned several medals in the indoor season, and has broken school and personal records. Veterans Stacia Harold and Megan Sweeney along with newcomer Amy Kremer show promise based on their indoor season performances as well.

The 2006 Atlantic 10 Women's Outdoor Track Championship will be hosted by UNC Charlotte and will take place at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center on May 6 and 7.

The Flyer's 2006 indoor track season is already underway, with UD having competed three meets this season.
