LAUREN MCCORMICK NAMED A-10 TRACK & FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Jan. 29, 2007

DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton freshman Lauren McCormick was named Atlantic 10 Track and Field Rookie of the Week following her strong performances at the Findlay Track and Field Classic on January 27. The freshman Flyer finished second in the 55 meter dash (7.08) and seventh in the 200 meter dash (26.26) recording season best times along the way.

The Xenia, Ohio native started the year off strong posting a fifth place finish in the 60 meter dash (7.93) and a sixth place finish in the 200 meter dash (26.94) at the Findlay Oiler Open. She improved from there when she earned a gold medal at the Ball State Open in the 60 meter dash with a consistent time of 7.93. In addition, she was also a member of the 4x2 relay team to take home gold at the ONU Friday Night Series (1:48.27).

McCormick times put her atop the season bests list as she currently owns four of the top five 55 meter dash times and three of the top 60 meter dash times of the season for Dayton. In addition, she also owns the top 200 meter time for a Flyer this season.

The women's track and field team will be back in action on February 2 and 3 as they travel to New York for the New Balance Games.
