BLOOMINGTON, Indiana -
The University of Dayton track and field team competed in the Indiana Open Saturday afternoon at Gladstein Fieldhouse on the campus of Indiana University. The Flyers posted more than five top 10 finishes as the team competed in its second indoor meet of the season.
Lauren McCormick (7.80) and Brittany Thomas (7.88) finished sixth and seventh, respectively in the 60 meter dash. Thomas (26.61) also ran the 200 meter dash with fellow teammates Lisa Aubry (27.62) and Lauren O'Brien (26.96), who posted a personal best time in the event.
In the 400 meter, flyer rookie Ashley Cattran finished second crossing at 58.32, while teammate Stacy Chew placed fifth in 1:00.64.
In relay action, Dayton's 4x4 relay team of Cattran, Chew, Aubry, and Emma Steinmetz posted a time of 4:10.41.
Five Flyers competed in the weight throw including Molly McCarty (54-10.00), Kerry Allen (46-10.25), Johnna Zaccari (42-00.5), Emily Overmyer (40-11.75), and Mallory Barnes (52-02.75).
Zaccari threw 45-05.75 in the shot put to lead UD in the event, while Sarah Allen finished second on the team with a throw of 44-02.50.
In the jumping events, McCormick posted a leap of 16-09.25 in the long jump, while Andrea Funk and Briona Gresham leapt 15-00.75 and 14-07.75 respectively. Megan Sweeney finished first for Dayton in the high jump with a leap of 5-5 as Amy Kremer followed with a jump of 5-3. Funk was the lone Flyer to compete in the triple jump leaping 36-9.00 to finish third.
The Flyers will return to action next week for the Ohio Northern University Friday Night Series. UD will travel to Ada, Ohio on January 18 for the team's third indoor meet of the season.
