Dayton received 23 top ten efforts during the afternoon, but the highlight of the day was Ashley Cattran's blazing time in the 800 meter race. The sophomore clocked in at 2:11.63 to break the school record for the second time in two meets.

In the sprints, junior Brittany Thomas stood out with a third-place time of 7.74 in the 60 meter dash.

Mid-distance runners Stacy Chew (59.42), who competed in the 400 meter dash, and Kelly Johnston (1:37.86), who ran in the 600, each placed tenth in their respective events.

In the 800 meter, Cattran's first-place time was supplemented by two other impressive finishes. Sophomore Maureen Bulgrin crossed the line sixth with a time of 2:23.08, while freshman Lindsey Cummings was tenth in 2:29.07.

The Flyers also showcased strength in the distance events, where five runners recorded top-ten finishes. Junior Alex Miles placed ninth (5:34.13), and senior Angela Conlon was tenth in the event (5:35.45).

Competing in the 3,000 meter run, sophomore Liz Coorey placed eighth with her time of 10:30.53.

In its lone relay event, Dayton's 4x400 team of Rachel Weber, Thomas, Chew and Cattran finished sixth overall in 4:05.24.

The Flyers also fared well in the field events, where school record-holder Mallory Barnes finished fourth in the weight throw competition. The sophomore had a hurl of 17.28 meters, while junior Molly McCarty logged a throw of 16.41 to finish in eight position in the same event. Imperial conversions for the weight throw were not immediately available.

UD also placed three athletes in the top ten in both the long jump and shot put contests.

Long jumpers Andrea Funk (16-08.75), Lydia Everhart (16-03.75), and Amy Kremer (16-00.25) finished eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.

In the shot put, sophomores Johnna Zaccari (43-05.25) and Barnes (43-00.25) placed eighth and ninth, while McCarty (42-10.75) took tenth.

In the high jump, sophomore Tiffany Maske took seventh with a leap of 5-07. Kremer tied for eighth (5-05).

Freshman pole vaulter Courtney Siebnaller also finished sixth (11-11.75).
