DAYTON'S CARA CORNACCHIA EARNS NATIONAL ACCOLADES

DAYTON, Ohio - After being named Most Outstanding Player of the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship, University of Dayton midfielder Cara Cornacchia also was named to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week for the week ending Nov. 8.

The redshirt junior led the No. 24 Flyers to a 2-1 win over Charlotte Sunday in the A-10 Championship final to give UD an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

"Cara played very well. Late in the game she said, `Coach I think I can help us out wide' and she did," said Tucker. "Cara is a steady and good player. She's had a tough career with injuries and I was happy for her when she got the recognition."

Dayton, which also won the A-10 Regular Season title, is 16-0-5 going into the NCAA Tournament, and is currently tied with No. 1 Stanford for the longest unbeaten streak in the nation.

Cornacchia has scored three goals and three assists this season; both are career bests.

The 2009 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship Selection show will be aired live on Monday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPNEWS. The UD women's soccer team will have a viewing party at the Boesch Lounge at UD Arena.
