DAYTON, Ohio -
After successful indoor and outdoor seasons, two members of the University of Dayton women's track and field team are set to compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional Track and Field Championship May 29.
Mallory Barnes (hammer throw) and Courtney Siebenaller (pole vault) will represent UD at the regionals as the young duo heads to Louisville to compete this weekend.
Fellow teammate Ashley Cattran also qualified for the meet in the 800 meter run, but will be unable to participate.
Barnes, a sophomore thrower, has proven herself throughout the outdoor season and was crowned conference champion in the weight throw at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship. She owns the top throws of the season on the team in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw.
Barnes took home a bronze medal in the hammer throw at the A-10 Outdoor Championships and qualified for the regional meet on April 18 at the All-Ohio Championships with her toss of 178-05. She is scheduled to compete in the hammer throw trials and finals on Friday, May 29 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Freshman pole vaulter Siebenaller finished the regular season with a bang after being named both the indoor and outdoor Atlantic 10 Champion in the pole vault. She broke the school record four times during the outdoor season and recorded a school record vault of 12-07.50.
Siebenaller qualified for the NCAA Regionals on April 26 at the Stan Lyons Invitational. She is scheduled to compete on Friday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
