FOUR NAMED TO DIVISION I OCSA MEN?S SOCCER ALL-OHIO TEAMS

DAYTON, Ohio -- Four University of Dayton men’s soccer players were named to the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association’s Division I Men’s Soccer All-Ohio Team. It was announced on Thursday.

Ryan Handbury and Chivas USA third round selection Isaac Kissi were named to the association’s first team, after helping the Flyers to a regular season Atlantic 10 Championship. The Flyers’ two first team selection ties them for second among all Ohio Div. I schools.

Alex Torda earned a spot onto the All-Ohio Second Team for the third consecutive season. Torda was joined by Westerville, Ohio native Ben Murray.

Torda and Murray were also noted for their academic accolades. Torda was selected to the Academic All-Ohio First Team, after carrying a 3.6 GPA in Business and Entrepreneurship. Murray was a third team selection with a 3.7 GPA in Business and Economics. Tommy Watkins joined the duo as a second team honoree. Watkins has a 3.68 GPA in Pre-Physical Therapy.

Torda was one of five players in the nation to repeat as a selection to the NSCAA/adidas Men's College Scholar All-America Team in the University Division  He, as well as fellow senior Murray, were named First Team 2009 NSCAA/adidas Scholar All-East Region selections, while Watkins earned honorable mention All-East Region Scholar accolades.

In addition to the individual accolades, the Flyers earned the 2009 NSCAA College Team Academic Award (by posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher). The UD women's team also took home this honor, which made the University of Dayton one of 101 schools to have both the men's and women's soccer programs earn the distinction.

The Flyers posted a 14-5-1 record and won the Atlantic 10 regular season title in 2009 under A-10 Coach of the Year Dennis Currier.
