DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers Champions & Scholars Fund, UD athletics comprehensive annual fund-raising initiative, has launched its initial membership drive.
Individuals who make a contribution from now until the end of the calendar year will receive a UD license plate cover as part of their membership benefits. The Champions & Scholars Fund seeks private support to increase resources for the entire division of athletics at the University of Dayton.
“We are excited to announce our inaugural membership drive for the Champions & Scholars Fund, which will provide increased resources for our athletic programs”, said
Brian Tracy, Athletic Development Officer. “In order to be successful in assisting our student-athletes, we must have financial support from our alumni base, the Dayton community and the many Flyer Faithful from across the country.”
A gift to the Champions & Scholars Fund between now and the end of calendar year will count in the membership drive total, which seeks a goal of $300,000 and 1,000 donors. Active membership in the Champions & Scholars Fund can be obtained with a minimum annual $100 gift to an athletic designated account, which includes sport programs and existing scholarships.
Members will receive tangible benefits based on their giving level which includes electronic correspondence, invitations to events, commemorative items and decal. Individuals can make commitments on-line, through the mail or over the phone.
“Our goal in this initial year is participation”, states Tracy. “We are driving the message out to our entire alumni base and local community. Once the Flyer Faithful gets involved and realize the impact their gift can have, we feel they will stay involved as a Champions & Scholars Fund member and refer others to do the same.”
The purpose of the Champions & Scholars Fund is to provide and enhance opportunities for over 400 University of Dayton student-athletes on 17 teams. The goal is to increase revenue by way of annual gifts, which will be put to use immediately to advance the athletic program in the areas of scholarships, operational expenses and facility enhancements.
The increased resources generated by the Champions & Scholars Fund help improve the athletic department’s standing on a national level of and increase visibility for the University of Dayton.
