Dayton, OH – The Dayton Flyers were unable to pull out a victory against Belmont on Friday, dropping the first match-up of the 2010 Dayton Invitational Tournament, 6-1.

Despite their early lead, as performance at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots earned UD the doubles point, the Flyers struggled in singles competition.

Robbie McCallum and Bryce Warnock, who now hold a 4-5 record at the No. 2 position, defeated Belmont’s Joao Paoliello/Rodrigo Amaral 8-5. Also contributing to UD’s point were Austin Weigand and A-10 Rookie of the Week Robert Salcedo, who battled it out to gain an 8-6 edge over their Belmont opponent.  As a pair, the two are 5-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Heading into the second day of competition, Dayton (2-8) will take on Northern Kentucky and New Jersey IT at 11:30 a.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. ET, respectively. Final results will be available at www.DaytonFlyers.com.
