LA SALLE SQUEAKS PAST DAYTON 3-2

PHILADELPHIA
– The University of Dayton Flyers dropped a close game to the La Salle Explorers 3-2 on Saturday at Hank DeVincent Field. UD drops to 9-14 and 0-3 in the Altantic 10.

Sophomore Mike Hauschild pitched 7.2 innings for UD in the loss. Hauschild had five strikeouts while allowing one walk. He had two earned runs charged against him in the contest, and is now 1-3 on the season.

Joe Gayda and Zach Jacob both had one RBI on the day. Gayda knocked in a runner on a base hit, scoring Dan Welch. Jacob reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Nelson.

The Explorers doubled down the right field line in the bottom of the fourth inning to open up the scoring. They extended their lead to two on throwing error by Dayton in the bottom of the seventh.

UD battled back to knot the game at two apiece thanks to Gayda and Jacob. However, La Salle struck again on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal the Flyers’ fate.

Dayton returns to the friendly confines of Time Warner Cable Stadium on Tuesday to host the Bowling Green Falcons at 3:00 p.m. ET. Mike Ivcic, the voice of Flyer Baseball, will broadcast the game live with his pregame show beginning at 2:30 p.m. on 1660 Information Radio.
