Flyers Finish Seventh Of 26 Teams

KENT, Ohio – The University of Dayton indoor track and field team finished seventh in the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday evening. Senior Maureen Bulgrin took first-place in the 5,000-meter run.
After taking first in the 3,000-meter run in last week’s Bowling Green Challenge, Bulgrin ran a 17:09.74 time in the 5,000-meter race on Saturday – edging Miami’s Rachel Patterson by one second (17:10.90). The pair paced the rest of the field by 20 seconds.
Sophomore Katie Nageotte and junior Courtney Siebenall tied for fifth in the pole vault, both clearing heights of 12-06.00 (3.81m). Mallory Barnes also placed fifth in the shot put with a distance of 47-05.25 (14.46m). Barnes placed first in the weight throw on Friday.
Senior Liz Coorey clocked a sub-five minute mile to place third in the mile run (4:59.50). Junior Kelly Johnston also finished in the top 10 for the Flyers in the mile, coming in ninth with a 5:12.65 time. Senior Ashley Cattran placed fourth in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:14.00 to register five team points for UD.
Sophomore Jada Henderson represented Dayton in the top 10 of the 200 meter dash – finishing 10th with a 25.72 time. Junior Emily Zimmerman (10:15.03) and sophomore Taylor Beyerle (10:37.95) placed eighth and 10th, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run.
The Flyers’ 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Cassie Grandstaff, sophomore Jada Henderson, freshman Noelle Tazioli and junior Rachel Weber finished fifth in the event with a time of 3:57.19.
Cincinnati took home the team All-Ohio Championship with 119 points and seven first-place finishes.
Dayton has two meets remaining until the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships. Next weekend Head Coach Adam Steinwachs and the Flyers will travel to Findlay, Ohio to compete in the Findlay Classic held at the Malcolm Athletic Center.
