FLYERS FALL SHORT TO NIU TO KICK OFF THE SPRING

The University of Dayton’s men’s tennis team opened up their regular season against Northern Illinois this past Saturday, Jan. 22. In singles play, the Flyers were led by freshman Sean Bandy. Robert Salcedo and Alex Crum tallied a doubles win.

Playing the number five position for UD, Bandy defeated fellow freshman Maksym Lagutin, 6-0, 6-4. In doubles play, the combination of Salcedo and Crum was too much for NIU’s Bryant Poggensee-Wei and Maximilian Phillips to handle. The UD duo earned the Flyers only doubles victory, 8-2.

Overall, the Flyers fell to NIU 5-2. They are back in action this Friday when they travel to Detroit, MI. to face Detroit Mercy.  The match is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
