Participant List | Schedule of Events | ESPN3.com

DAYTON, Ohio
- University of Dayton senior thrower Mallory Barnes will compete in this weekend’s NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in College Station, Texas.

Barnes earned a berth in the championships after her automatic qualifying mark of 69-11.75 was set at the Akron Invitational. Her throw also stands as the fifth-best in the nation and is a school record.

It is the second consecutive season that Barnes has advanced to the National Championships, and the third consecutive season a UD student-athlete has reached the meet. Senior Ashley Cattran advanced to the Indoor Championships in 2009 in the 800 meters.

Barnes was the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championship’s Most Outstanding Field Performer, and she was also the indoor champion in the weight throw. Last season, Barnes became the track and field program’s first All-American when she placed sixth in the NCAA Indoor Championships.

The weight throw trials and finals will start on Friday March 11 at 4 p.m. Live results and streaming video will be available on NCAA.com and ESPN3. The 2011 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships will air on a tape-delay on Wednesday, March 16 from 2:30 – 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
