KINGSTON, R.I. –  The University of Dayton (14-4-2) was knocked out of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship by VCU (12-4-5). After a 1-1 score following double overtime the Rams advanced on penalty kicks, 3-0, in the semifinals at the URI Complex

The Flyers got on the board early with a score from freshman Nicole Waters at the 1:41 mark. Senior Colleen Williams and Kelsey Smigel were each credited with an assist on the goal.

Williams became the 20th player in NCAA women's soccer to score 50 goals and have 50 assists in her career with an assist in the first minute vs. VCU in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 championship. Williams has 50 assists and 58 goals. The 2012 A-10 Offensive Player of the Year currently leads the nation in ppg. The last player to reach 50-50 in her career was Kerri Hanks, Notre Dame from 2005-08.

VCU’s Courntey Conrad scored off a Cristin Granados free kick in the 56th minute of the match to tie it all up.

The Flyers outshot the Rams 30-10, including 8-2 in the two overtimes but could not put away one for the game-winner.

UD missed its first three PKs and VCU converted all three to advance.
