KEVIN DILLARD NAMED TO COUSY AWARD WATCH LIST

Complete Naismith Hall of Fame Release In Format

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – University of Dayton senior point guard Kevin Dillard has been named to the national watch list for the 2013 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award.

The announcement was made by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.  The annual award is named for Hall of Famer Bob Cousy, the college and NBA great who pioneered the position of point guard.

Dillard leads the Flyers in scoring (15.0), assists (4.1), steals (1.4) and minutes played (31.2) this season.  He is second on the team in FT% (.863, 44-51) and third in 3-pt. FG% (.396, 19-48).  He has led UD to an 8-3 record so far this season.

A preseason first Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, Dillard was ESPN.com’s national player of the week earlier this season after scoring 25 points and handing out six assists in a win at Alabama on Dec. 5.

Dillard is the second player in UD history to make the Cousy watch list.  Brian Roberts, who is now playing with the New Orleans Hornets, was named in 2008.

The watch list of candidates will be narrowed down to a selection list of 20 around the first of the year.  The 2013 Cousy Award winner will be announced during the Final Four in Atlanta.

Dayton will play Murray State, who has a Cousy Award candidate of its own in senior Isaiah Canaan, at home on Saturday.  Game time at UD Arena is 12 noon ET, and the game will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network.
