University of Dayton senior point guard Kevin Dillard has been named ESPN.com’s National Player of the Week after leading UD to a pair of big wins at Alabama and at home against Miami. Dillard averaged 20.0 points a game for the week.
Dayton went on the road for the first time in 2012-13 on Dec. 4 when the Flyers traveled to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Thanks to Dillard’s 17 points in the first half and 6-for-6 free throw shooting in the second, the Homewood-Flossmoor product scored a college career-high 25 points in the 81-76 win.
On Saturday, Dec. 8, Dillard scored 10 of his team-high 15 points (tying teammate Devin Oliver) in the first half of UD’s 83-61 win over Miami.
For the week, KD averaged 20.0 points and 5.0 assists while shooting .417 (5-12) from 3-pt. range and .917 (11-12) from the line. On the year, he leads the Flyers in scoring (15.1), assists (4.2), three-pointers made (16), free throws made (41) and steals (12). He is also tied with Oliver in minutes played (31.0 per game) and is second in FT% (.854, 41-48) and 3-pt. FG% (.410, 16-39).
Dayton, now 7-2 and on its second three-game winning streak of the young season, will play Saturday, Dec. 15 at home against Florida Atlantic. Game time is 7:00 p.m. ET.
