Highland Heights, Ky. - The University of Dayton men's team competed in the Northern Kentucky Invitational this weekend to kick off the start of their 2013 fall season. The flyers have a promising season ahead of them as they had an impressive first showing.
In doubles action junior
Aidan Koross and freshman
Bernardo Sanson won Flight 1 doubles defeating teams from Lewis (8-5), Southern Indiana (8-4) and IPFW in the finals 8-4. Overall in doubles play the Flyers finished with 5-2 record.Â
In singles action, senior
Enzo Milano won the back draw in Flight 6 against Deuce Gibson from Asbury 10-7. In Flight 2, freshman
Bernardo Sanson trailed Christopher Angulo of Northern Kentucky 3-6 after the first set. Sanson came back from down a break and won the second set 7-6 forcing a third set which he won 10-7. Also in singles play, freshman
Graham Reinbold defeated Chris Jastrab from Lewis Flyers 6-0, 6-2. Coach Meyer said "Reinbold played exceptionally well in gaining his first collegiate victory."
"Our doubles play was fantastic this weekend." Said Meyer "Weather conditions were not the best for good tennis on Friday, but we battled and made great strides in coming together as a team. I'm looking forward to going out to Wright State next weekend and continuing to improve, especially in our singles play."
Next up for the Flyers is the Raider Shootout hosted by Wright State. Tournament play begins on Friday, Sept. 20 and continues through Sunday, Sept. 22.Â
