University of Dayton women's soccer hosts the Richmond Spiders in an Atlantic-10 conference opener at Baujan Field this Saturday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.. It is Alumni weekend, as well as Family Weekend. The UD men's soccer team will host Loyola following the women's match at Baujan. Admission to both is free.
FLYER NOTES
• UD leads the Atlantic 10 in shots (189) and points (56). The Flyers are tied for first in the conference in goals scored (19, assists (18) and shutouts (4).

Ashley Campbell leads the league in points (18) and goals (8), while senior
Juliana Libertin leads the A-10 in shots (41) and assists (7). Freshman goalkeeper
Elizabeth James is tied for the league lead in shutouts with four.

SERIES INFO
The Flyers hold the series against Richmond with an 8-3-1 record versus the Spiders. Their last meeting was in November of 2012 where the Flyers earned a 2-0 win.
KICKS FOR KIDS
The Dayton women's soccer team is collaborating with the University of Dayton Department of Health and Sport Science to support their Adapted Physical Activity Program with "Kicks for Kids". The women's soccer team will hold a free soccer clinic for the children from the program on Sept. 28 in conjunction with their participation in the Frericks 5K activities. Fans can send donations to: University of Dayton, c/o Kicks for Kids, 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469-1210.
The funds raised will go toward equipment for the UD Adapted Physical Activity Program, which benefits children in the Dayton area who have exceptionalities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Blind and Low Vision, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Developmental Disability (DD), Learning Disabilities (LD), and Physical Disability.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
• Richmond is coming off of a 8-9-1 season in 2012 along with a 4-4-1 in the A-10.
• UR is 1-5-0 in road matches this season; their first road win was a 3-1 win over American Wednesday night.
• Kristen Lybert leads the Spiders with five points (2 goals and 1 assist) this season.
•Richmond is coached by Peter Albright, who is in his 19th season as head coach for the Spiders. Albright has been the head coach for the Spiders since the program's start 19 years ago.
• UR is 3-5-2 this season. Before their win against American, they suffered a 2-0 loss to #21 West Virginia last weekend.
ATLANTIC 10 HONORS
Stephanie Emery was named an Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week, while Flyer teammate
Elizabeth James earned Rookie of the Week honors. Emery scored two game-winning goals in UD's 2-0 week that saw wins over Central Michigan and Toledo. James, had two shutouts last week in the two Dayton wins. James faced 23 shots and registered nine saves, and her 48 saves this season rank second in the A-10. The rookie goalkeeper is also tied for first in the conference with four shutouts.
FLYER SUCCESS
The Dayton women's soccer program owns an overall record of 397-162-43 since it became a varsity program in 1984. The Flyers made NCAA Tournament Appearances in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010 and 2011, advancing to the second round in both 2009 and 2010 and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2001.
LIBERTIN SELECTED TO TOP 30 FOR SENIOR CLASS AWARD
Juliana Libertin has been selected as a candidate for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award. She is one of 30 NCAA® women's soccer student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as a candidate. Libertin is the fifth UD women's soccer player to be named to the Senior CLASS Top 30 since the award was started in 2007.
BELIEVIN' IN BAUJAN
The Flyers are 196-57-19 all-time in games played at Baujan Field. There have been 272 UD women's soccer games played at the historic venue and the Flyers own a .784 winning percentage in those matches. In the last five years UD women's soccer is 41-7-4 at home; an astounding .827 winning percentage at Baujan. BennettRank College Soccer recently posted its findings of a year-long study on the validity to a home field advantage. The University of Dayton's Baujan Field was ranked 29th in all of NCAA Division I women's soccer.
FLYERS PICKED TO WIN A-10 AGAIN
For the fifth straight year, the University of Dayton women's soccer team has been chosen as the Atlantic 10 Conference preseason favorite in a vote conducted by the league's 13 head coaches Dayton and La Salle each received 160 points in the voting, forcing a tiebreaker scenario in which Dayton earned the most first-place nods (7). The Flyers, who seek a record ninth A-10 Championship title, return eight starters and will rely offensively on 2012 All-Conference selections
Juliana Libertin and
Ashley Campbell, who combined for a total of 24 goals last season, to fill the void of A-10 Offensive Player of the Year,
Colleen Williams. Dayton will be trying for its fourth championship in five years.
UP NEXT
The Flyers host George Mason in an Atlantic 10 conference match Friday, Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m. at Baujan Field. It will be UD soccer camp reunion night. Posters featuring the Flyer women's soccer junior class will be given out to the first 200 fans.
