Day 1 Results
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  – The University of Dayton women's track and field team started competition at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington on Friday.
The Flyers competed in a number of heats both in field and track events.
In the 60m hurdles prelims,
Maddi Schmidt took 14
th-place and posted a time of 9.00, qualifying her for the finals. That performance was a Top 5 mark all-time.
The distance medley relay squad also had a Top 5 time in the event, finishing second overall. They recorded an 11:50.56 performance and were just .25 seconds off from first place, but were nine seconds ahead of third-place Saint Louis.
In the long jump,
Hilary Lang reached a height of 5.23m to take 17
th-place out of 27 competitors.
Sydney Riethman also finished just shy of a personal record with a season-best jump of 5.11m.
Aly Weeman finished 11
th in the weight throw with a mark of 16.68m, but had the best showing in her flight.
In the pole vault,
Ashley DeMange finished third overall out of 24 competitors with a mark of 3.75m.
Miranda Nelson excelled in the shot put and finished second overall in her flight with a 13.62m performance, giving her a new personal record.
The Flyers will continue the Indiana Relays on Saturday with the final event taking place at 5:15 p.m. tomorrow.
