DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team announced its 2015 spring schedule this week ahead of the upcoming season.
"Our philosophy in scheduling is two folded: to compete against likeable competition to gain confidence going into the A10 season as well as to compete against teams that we could play against in Regional play," said Head Coach
Tony Vittorio. "I feel that we have done that with our 2015 schedule."
The Flyers are coming off a 2014 season in which they won 24 games and made a trip to the Atlantic 10 Tournament in St. Louis, Mo. Dayton will be looking to make it back to the postseason in what will be a competitive A-10 season. In 2014, the Flyers went 13-17 against opponents they will face this year.
The 2015 campaign will start off with the Spartanburg Classic in South Carolina on Feb. 13. There the Flyers will open with contests against South Carolina Upstate, Army, and Wofford.
UD plays its home opening series against High Point on Feb. 20-22 before hosting Bowling Green.
Next up is the Austin Peay Classic in Tennessee, where games against Western Michigan, Austin Peay, and Northern Kentucky await.
Dayton then returns home for nine straight home games while hosting a pair of tournaments in the Dayton Classic and the Flyer Classic. Competition amongst the two tournaments are Missouri State, Buffalo, Wright State, NKU, and Ball State.
After that, the Flyers head into conference play with a home series versus Massachusetts starting March 20 and an away series at La Salle starting March 27. Dayton breaks up A-10 play with Toledo, IPFW, and former conference rival Xavier on March 31.
April begins with conference runners-up VCU at home, before Dayton plays at Ohio State, at George Washington, at Davidson, and home against Saint Joseph's.
May starts with Dayton heading to Xavier on the first of the month. A non-conference series at home against Alabama A&M takes place before the Flyers travel for their next six games, including an A-10 series at Richmond.
Dayton finishes the regular season May 14-16 with Fordham.
The Atlantic 10 Championship will be played in Washington, D.C. on May 20-23.
