BOSTON – University of Dayton senior guard
Charles Cooke has been named to the Lute Olson Award Preseason Watch List, which was announced earlier in the week.
The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons.
Cooke has already been named to the Jerry West Award Watch List, which goes to the nation's top shooting guard. Cooke was a 2015-16 All-Atlantic 10 First-Team and All-Defensive Team selection, led the Flyers in scoring (15.6 ppg) and 3-point shooting (.396) last season. He was also honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as an All-District 4 First Team selection.
The Flyer senior is one of six Atlantic 10 players on the list.
The recipient of the 2017 Lute Olson Award will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com awards banquet on April 31 in Phoenix, Arizona, site of the men's division I basketball championship.
The Flyers, who won a share of the A-10 regular season championship in 2015-16, open the year on Friday. Austin Peay, who represented the Ohio Valley Conference in last March's NCAA tournament will come to Dayton for a 7 p.m. ET tip.
