DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes, in conjunction with the Office of the Provost, held its 10th annual Scholar-Athlete Awards Reception Monday.
The event recognizes UD student-athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom and in the community.

James Haupt received the Presidential Scholar-Athlete Awards, highlighting the evening. The Presidential Scholar Athlete Award is designed to be the most prestigious award presented at the annual OASSA Scholar-Athlete Awards Reception. It recognizes two student-athletes, one male and one female, who have demonstrated academic excellence, qualities of leadership, and service to the University of Dayton community.
The 14 other nominees for the Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award were as follows:

Marlys Bridgham (women's tennis),
Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova (women's basketball),
Mitch Coughlin (baseball),
Emily Froment (softball),
Kathleen Golterman (women's soccer),
Hunter Johnston (men's cross country),
Janna Krafka (volleyball),
Kyle MacDonald (men's tennis),
Patrick Nuzzolese (football),
Nick Paxson (men's golf),
Mika Suntay (women's golf),
Bobby Wehrli (men's basketball), and
Paige Yaeger (track and field).
Four other special awards were given out on Monday to Dayton student-athletes. Senior men's soccer player
Andrew Lightner received the Rev. Charles L. Collins Outstanding Citizenship Award. Senior football player
Christopher Beaschler was given the Charles R. Kendall Memorial Award. Senior volleyball player
Janna Krafka earned the Ann E. Meyers Award of excellence. The Flying Right Award was given to senior men's golfer
Thomas Goss.
The OASSA Academic Cup, presented to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average combined over the 2015 spring and fall semesters, was awarded to women's tennis.Â
For the Dayton All-Academic team, student-athletes that had the highest GPA on their individual teams were honored. This consisted of

To close out the evening, 19 student-athletes with 4.00 GPAs were recognized as well as the 185 student-athletes with GPAs of 3.5 or better.
