ANOTHER A-10 TITLE HIGHLIGHTS DAY 1 OF CHAMPIONSHIPS

KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of Dayton women's track and field team began its weekend at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships on Saturday with a number of notable performances.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MEET
  • The weight throw was the strongest event for the Flyers with Dayton taking the title and runner-up spot. Sophomore Jenni Rossi earned her third Atlantic 10 title in two seasons, finishing first in the weight throw. Sonya Napariu earned her first medal as well, finishing second overall in the event.

COACH'S QUOTE
  • "Today was a day with lots of ups and downs," said head coach Jason Francis. "We are in a good place heading into day two with who made it through to finals. Looking forward to some big performances tomorrow."

ATLANTIC 10 ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
  • Jenni Rossi won the A-10 Indoor title in the weight throw.
  • Sonya Napariu finished runner-up to her teammate in the weight throw, earning the silver.

TOP 5 ALL-TIME PERFORMANCES
  • Jordan Hoffman set a new school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.61, beating her previous school record of 8.69 set earlier this season. She also recorded the fourth-best 60m time with a 7.71 performance.
  • Grace McDonald recorded the second-best 1000m time in program history with a time of 2:56.38.
  • Paige Yaeger set the third-best mark in the 500m in school history with a time of 1:16.29.
  • Sarah Sepanski recorded the fifth-best 60m time at Dayton with a time of 7.74.

PERSONAL RECORDS
  • There were 17 personal bests on Saturday: Sepanski (shot put, high jump, 60m, and 800m), Hoffman (60m hurdles and 60m), Yaeger (500m), Pryslak (500m), Attea (500m), Adams (60m), McDonald (1000m), Griffith (1000m), Rossi (weight throw), Napariu (weight throw), Vernot (5000m), Steinbicker (5000m), and Krawiec (long jump)
