FLYERS IN THIRD AFTER FIRST DAY OF A-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS

FAIRFAX, Va.  – The University of Dayton women's track and field team started off the 2016 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships with four medalists, including a conference champion in Jenni Rossi in the hammer.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY
  • The opening day of the conference meet saw four podium performances by the Flyers with Rossi's title joining Leah Frischmann (pole vault), Sonya Napariu (hammer), and Grace McDonald (steeplechase) as medalists.

  • "The team represented Dayton very well today," said head coach Sarah Haveman. "From the podium finishes of Rossi, Frischmann, Napariu, and McDonald, to the hard fought points from Birdsong and Albers, we are very proud of the team."

ATLANTIC 10 MEDALISTS
TOP 5 ALL-TIME RESULTS
  • Jordan Hoffman recorded the second-best 100m hurdles time in school history while finishing second in the prelims, qualifying for finals.
  • Jenni Rossi recorded the fourth-best hammer throw mark in Dayton history while winning the A-10 title.
  • Jessica Birdsong had the fifth-best javelin throw mark at UD with a distance of 38.12m.
  • Grace McDonald recorded the fifth-best 3000m steeplechase time in school history and finished third overall.

PERSONAL BESTS
  • There were nine personal bests on Saturday: Sepanski (100m hurdles), Hoffman (100m hurdles), Butler (shot put), Rossi (hammer), Birdsong (javelin), Adams (200m), McDonald (steeplechase), Steinbicker (10,000m), and Triskett (10,000m).
