NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton sophomore
Corey Rinella was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Field Performer of the Week today.
In the first indoor meet of 2019, at the University of Kentucky Jim Green Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 12, Rinella broke into Dayton's all-time Top 5 for indoor long jump.

"Corey has done a fantastic job over the last two years to put herself in a position to be successful," said UD Head Coach
Jason Ordway. "She has become one of our hardest workers and has really become a true student of the sport to improve herself."

In her second attempt of the day, she achieved her PR at 5.34m which is also fifth-best all-time at Dayton for indoor long jump. It's .34m longer than her previous PR.

Rinella, of Palatine, Ill., also had a PR in the 60m hurdles with her time of 9.19.
She was competing against student-athletes from Kentucky, Ohio State, and Indiana, as well as competitors from Nike.Â

Other winners included: George Mason seniors Rico Gomez and Sarah Moore who earned the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Track Performer of the Week accolades, respectively, and Massachusetts junior Hunter Gray earned Men's Field Performer of the Week. La Salle's Chris Lewis and Saint Louis' Myles Gascon shared Men's Rookie of the Week, and George Mason's Kelly-Ann Downer was the Women's Rookie of the Week. The awards are for meets held Jan. 7-13.

Rinella and the Flyers will be back in action this Friday and Saturday at the Indiana University Gladstein Invitational.
