DAYTON – The University of Dayton has three student-athletes who qualified for the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla. The event will be held May 23-26 on the campus of the University of North Florida.
UD senior
Allison Triskett, redshirt junior
Emily Borchers, and sophomore
Kelly Wilker all qualified in the 3000-meter Steeplechase. The Flyers are the only program to have three qualify in this event in the East region. Dayton is currently ranked seventh in the nation in the 3000m Steeplchase by the USTFCCCA.
They will compete Friday, May 24 at 8:20 p.m.
Student-athletes with top-48 times and marks in the eastern half of the U.S. qualify for individual competition. The top three from each heat and the next three fastest times – 12 from each region for a total of 24 –  will move on to compete at the NCAA Championship held June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
Borchers, who also competed in the Steeplechase at the 2018 NCAA East Prelims, currently has the 11th best time in the East Region at 10:11.21, a UD school record which she set while winning gold in the event at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championships.
Triskett's time of 10:27.09, also set at the A-10 Championship, is 39th in the region. Wilker also qualified at the A-10 Championship with her time of 10:27.39 and is 41st in the region.
