DAYTON –  The University of Dayton women's cross country team had a very successful 2019 season. The Flyers were runners-up in two races, won the All-Ohio Championship, and took third place at the Atlantic 10 Championship. Here is a look back at the 2019 season.
 

• Queen City Invitational
  • The Flyers took second place of 10 teams and had four runners in the top 15.
  • Junior Kelly Wilker was the top finisher for Dayton, taking third-place in 17:49.4, a PR and 10th Best All-Time at Dayton.
  • Four additional Flyers finished in the top 25 – 12th Emily Sreenan (18:15.2 PR), 14th Ellie Tighe (18:20.2 PR), 15th Melissa Weidner (18:22.2 PR) and 24th Carlee Constable (18:41.6).
     
• Friendship Invitational
  • Dayton took sixth place and had five Flyers compete in the 29th Annual Friendship Invitational.
  • The Flyers were led by Kate Lechowicz (19:18.5 PR) and Liz Lechowicz (19:45.4 PR).
  • Reilly Madsen and Palmer Madsen also had personal records.
     
• National Catholic Invitational
  • The Flyers finished second of 15 teams.
  • Kelly Wilker led the Flyers with a seventh-place finish with a time of 18:03.98.
  • Carlee Constable also finished in the top 10, taking 10th place with a time of 18:19.41.
  • Four additional Flyers finished in the top 25 – 15th Ellie Tighe (18:28.37), 19th Maddie Loughery (18:42.46), 20th Melissa Weidner (18:42.89) and 23rd Emily Sreenan (18:45.89).
  • Kelly Wilker was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Co-Performer of the Week. She earned All-National Catholic Invitational Honors.
  • Ellie Tighe was also honored as the Atlantic 10 Women's Rookie of the week for Sept. 16-22.
     
• All-Ohio Championships
  • The Flyers finished in first place in the Championship 6K out of 35 teams.
  • Kelly Wilker finished as the runner-up in the championship race with a personal record time of 21:47.5.
  • Four additional Flyers finished in the top 20 to secure the team title – 15th Emily Sreenan (22:48.5), 17th Carlee Constable (22:53.0 PR), 19th Melissa Weidner (22:55.2 PR) and 20th Maddie Loughery (23:00.8 PR).
  • Reilly Madsen led the Flyers in the individual 6K, finishing in ninth-place with a time of 24:26.4, a personal record.
  • Two additional Flyers finished in the top 25 of the individual 6K – 14th Aileen Hull (24:46.4) and 19th Kate Lechowicz (24:56.8 PR).
  • Ten Flyers had PRs during the contest.
  • Kelly Wilker was named the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Performer of the Week for the second time.
  • Melissa Weidner was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for Sept. 23-29.
     
• NCAA Pre-Nationals
  • Dayton faced several ranked teams and took 11th place of 26 teams.
  • Kelly Wilker was Dayton's top finisher in 21st place of 175 with a PR of 21:39.4.  
     
• Atlantic 10 Championship
  • The Flyers took third place out of 14 teams.
  • Kelly Wilker led the Flyers in a seventh-place finish with a time of 18:13.9.
  • Two additional Flyers finished in the top 25 – 11th Emily Sreenan (18:22.9) and 18th Katie Miller (18:42.8).
  • Kelly Wilker and Emily Sreenan both earned Atlantic 10 All-Championship honors.
     
• NCAA Great Lakes Regional
  • The Flyers finished 15th of 31 teams.
  • Emily Sreenan was Dayton's top finisher with a personal record time of 21:25.2.
     
• Postseason Honors
  • The Flyers were named a 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
  • UD claimed three of the six spots on the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team. Senior kaci Bornhorst, junior Kelly Wilker, and sophomore Emily Sreenan all earned a spot to represent the Flyers.
  • Kelly Wilker was named Dayton's White Allen Most Valuable Runner. Kaci Bornhorst was named the High Flyer, and Maddie Loughery was named Most Improved Runner.
