DAYTON – University of Dayton redshirt senior
Emily Borchers was named to the 2020 Academic All-District® 5 Women's Track & Field / Cross Country First Team, as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in sport and in the classroom.
A native of Russia, Ohio, Borchers ran distance for the Flyers and also specialized in the Steeplechase, an event in which she holds the Flyer school record (10:08.39), qualified for the NCAA Championships last season, and is a two-time Atlantic 10 Champion and NCAA East Regional qualifier.
She holds the UD indoor 5k record (16:26.13) and is second all-time in the indoor 3k (9:36.99). In addition to her Steeplechase record, she also holds the outdoor 3k record (9:43.93) for the Flyers. She is ranked second all-time at UD in cross country in the 5k.
Borchers is a three-time A-10 All-Academic Team honoree and was Dayton's 2020 Charles R. Kendall Award recipient for Athletic and Academic Achievement. She graduated with her bachelor's degree in communications in 2019 and was pursuing her master's degree during her redshirt season.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District®, such as Borchers, will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic AllAmerica® honorees will be announced from June 22-25.
