CLEVELAND – The University of Dayton men's tennis team finished the second day of the Viking Invitational at Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion on the campus of Cleveland State on Saturday.

The Flyers opened the day with doubles play as sophomore
Ronit Hiryur and freshman
Eric Perkowski took down Xavier's Charlie Temming and Cambell Nakayama 6-4 before falling to fellow Flyers juniors
Connor Bruce and
Max DeCurtins by the same 6-4 score.

Bruce and DeCurtins will return Sunday morning to take on Xavier's Diego Nava and Brett Winters in the back draw to conclude the doubles portion of the event for UD.

Bruce also advanced in the Main Draw of the singles portion of the event, defeating Jorge Sedeno of Niagara by walkover before taking down Buffalo's Finn MacNamara in straight sets in the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-0. The junior will take on Maxime Mareshal-Hay of Cleveland State in the semifinals Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Oliver Dunne also advanced in the Back Draw of the singles event, defeating Shashank Reddy of Xavier to set up a matchup with Marco Pennelli, also of Xavier Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Senior
Joe DeMarco also advanced through his portion of the Back Draw, beating Matt Andrus in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 before knocking off Butler's Zach Trimpe by walkover.

Hiryur also won a pair of singles matches on Saturday, first defeating Buffalo's Greg Hastings 6-1, 7-6 before advancing past Youngstown State's Javi Pla in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. The sophomore will return on Sunday to take on JuandeDios Abboud of Cleveland State.

The Viking Invitational as well as the fall season for the Flyers will conclude on Sunday.
