DAYTON – University of Dayton sophomore
Casey Bogues has been named to the 2020-21 Academic All-District® 5 Women's Track & Field / Cross Country First Team.
The team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.
Bogues carries a 3.74 GPA and is majoring in middle childhood education/intervention specialist.
Bogues, who competed at the 2021 U.S. Track & Field Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Ore., broke Dayton's javelin record multiple times this season.
A Second Team All-American, Bogues placed 11
th at the NCAA Championship with a personal best and school-record mark of 53.39m.
She was the Atlantic 10 champion in javelin, breaking the meet and conference record with a mark of 51.28m. Bogues also took home the Female Breakthrough Performance of the Year award winner at Dayton's annual RUDYS celebration.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-August.
