KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team competed in the first day of the Ohio Valley ITA Regionals at Tennessee on Thursday, picking up two victories in singles play.

Six Flyers competed in the first day of the event between singles and doubles play. Sophomore
Erik Eliasson picked up the first victory of the season for UD, taking down Tom Bolton of Austin Peay in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the Round of 64.

Eliasson will take on Pablo Alemany of Memphis Friday at 10 a.m. in the second round of competition.

Also picking up a win for the Flyers was freshman
Eric Perkowski. It marked the first career collegiate victory for Perkowski, who defeated Maksim Bogdanovich of Lipscomb in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in his first match at UD.

Perkowski will take on Ilya Tiraspolsky of Indiana Friday at 10:30 in the Round of 64.

The Flyers failed to take another match on the day, but senior
Will Harper, juniors
Oliver Dunne and
Georgi Mavrodiev, and sophomore
Ronit Hiryur will continue in the consolation bracket beginning tomorrow.

The pairs of Perkowski and Eliasson, Hiryur and Mavrodiev, and Dunne and Harper will also begin the doubles consolation bracket Friday afternoon.
