DAYTON -- The University of Dayton has announced that all of this year's men's basketball season and single-game tickets in the upper and lower Arena, as well as premium seating areas have been sold, selling out the entire 2022-23 season.
That includes UD's exhibition game with Capital on Saturday, Oct. 29. That game will tip-off at 7 p.m. ET.
"The community's long-standing support of our players and coaches over decades is the hallmark our program," UD Vice-President and Director of Athletics
Neil Sullivan said.
"As college sports experiences a period of generational and fundamental change, we are more thankful for our fans' extraordinary support and partnership than ever."
This will extend a sellout streak to 44 games dating back to 2019-2020. This marks the third straight season (the NCAA did not track attendance during the Covid season) that the University of Dayton has had double-digit sellouts. UD had 14 sellouts in 2019-2020, and 17 when the University announced the 2021-22 season was sold out on Nov. 4.
Dayton men's basketball ranked 19th nationally in average attendance in 2021-22. The Flyers set a school record in average attendance last year, averaging 13,407 fans a game, a number it will match this season. That is 43 more than the previous UD record set in 2019-20.
Since the Arena opened in 1969, Dayton has been in the NCAA`s Top 35 in men's basketball attendance all 51 seasons, and in the Top 25 a total of 33 times. UD was the 11th school to have 10 million fans attend a men's basketball game in its current building. The others were Butler, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Mexico, Purdue, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.
