DAYTON – University of Dayton baseball head coach
Jayson King has released the 2023 Flyer baseball schedule. The Flyers have 33 non-conference games on the slate, with a full 24-game Atlantic 10 schedule. The 2023 campaign is highlighted by two series at preseason Top Five programs – Tennessee (Feb. 24-26) and Louisville (March 10-12).
"We have put together a very challenging schedule that will be a great test early and throughout the season," King said. "We are looking forward to the challenge that this schedule will provide and the opportunities it presents."
Dayton will open the season on Friday, Deb. 17 for three games at Western Kentucky.
The Flyers will play their first season on the new turf on Woerner Field this year. UD's home opener is the first game of a four-game set against Eastern Illinois on Friday, March 3.
In addition to the visits to Tennessee and Louisville, the Flyers will have series at Ohio State (March 17-19) and Georgetown (March 24-26).
Dayton will host mid-week games with Miami, Eastern Kentucky and Butler, and play a single game at Kentucky.
UD will face the following non-conference teams home and away in 2023 – Akron, Northern Kentucky, Toledo and Purdue Fort Wayne.
The Flyers will also play Wright State twice, hosting the Raiders at the home of the Dayton Dragons, DayAir Ballpark on April 18 and making the short drive to Nischwitz Stadium to play at WSU on May 9.
The Red & Blue will open Atlantic 10 action at home against George Washington (March 31-April 2). Dayton will also have home conference series with Saint Louis (April 22-25), Saint Joseph's (May 5-7) and St. Bonaventure (May 11-13). UD's A-10 road series will be at George Mason (April 7-9), defending regular-season champion Davidson (April 14-16), Rhode Island (April 28-30) and UMass (May 18-20).
The Atlantic 10 Championship will be hosted by 2022 tournament champion VCU May 23-27 in Richmond, Va.
The College World Series will begin with regionals June 2-5, and Super Regionals June 9-12.
