DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's track and field team will hit the road this weekend for the penultimate meet of the regular season. The Flyers will travel to nearby Athens, Ohio for the Cherry Blossom Invitational, hosted by the Ohio University Bobcats on Saturday morning.
Â
The Flyers were last together as a whole roster two weekends ago for the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at the University of Cincinnati, a meet where Dayton placed third among the 20 competing programs. A smaller group also competed in the Pacesetter Sports Invitational at Indiana State University a weekend ago. At the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on April 2, the Flyers got strong performances in both the field and running events.
Luisa Himmler won her second of three appearances in the javelin toss, while
Grace Homan finished fourth overall in the discus throw with a season-best mark of 44.47m.
Kaira Granger was named the Atlantic 10's Rookie Performer of the Week after she set a new PR in the 200m race, finishing third overall with a final mark of 24.72 seconds. This result is enough to place Granger in third overall in the Atlantic 10 this season in the 200m.
