Nate Santos Named Atlantic 10 Co-Player Of The Week

Santos Led UD To The Championship Game Of The Shriners Children’s Hospitals Charleston Classic

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton forward Nate Santos was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week for his efforts this weekend at the Shriners Children's Hospitals Charleston Classic.  The Flyers defeated LSU and St. John's before losing to sixth-ranked Houston in the finals.

Santos was named to the All-Tournament Team, averaging 17.0 points and 6.3 rebounds while leading the tournament in field goal percentage (.680, 17-of-25). The junior from Geneva, Ill., also shot .636 (7-for-11) from distance and .714 (10-of-14) from the line. 

He buried the game-winning trey with 4.1 seconds left in Dayton's come-from-behind 70-67 win over LSU, leading the Flyers with 19 points. He also scored 18 (15 in the second half) in an impressive win over St. John's in the semifinals. In the championship game against Houston, he added 14 points.

Santos is currently the only player in the top five in the A-10 in both FG% (.688, 22-32) and 3-pt. FG% (.600, 9-15).  He is fifth in both.  Santos also leads UD in rebounding (7.6) and is second in scoring (13.6).

He share the weekly A-10 honor with Keyshawn Hall of George Mason.

Dayton is 3-2 on the season.  The Flyers are back home on Friday night, hosting Youngstown State.  Game time is 7 p.m. ET.  The game will be televised on Ballys Sports Ohio and streamed on ESPN+.
