DAYTON - The University of Dayton baseball team and head coach
Jayson King has announced the 2024 schedule Thursday afternoon, with the Flyers hosting 25 games at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium during the facility's 20th anniversary.
"We are all very excited about our schedule for this season," said King. "Hosting two weekend series at Woerner Field in the early season is something that we have worked to make happen for many years. As we have done in the past, we are playing a rigorous schedule that will challenge our program to succeed at the highest level. Combined with our return to Day Air ballpark in April, we are all looking forward to this season."
The #FlyBoys open the 2024 campaign at home, playing opening weekend of the college baseball campaign at Woerner Field at AES Ohio Stadium against Lindenwood University (Feb. 16-18). Dayton will also host Toledo (March 6) and Bowling Green (March 13) in midweek affairs, as well as South Dakota (March 8-10) for a weekend series before Atlantic 10 play begins.
UD's non-conference slate includes a weekend series at 2023's third-place finisher, Wake Forest (Feb. 23-25) and a midweek matchup at perennial power Vanderbilt (Feb. 20). The Flyers will also travel to High Point (March 1-3), Eastern Illinois (March 15-17) and Butler (March 23-24) for non-conference series, as well as one-off games at Northern Kentucky (March 12), Eastern Kentucky (March 20), Ohio (March 26), Akron (Apr. 16), Bowling Green (Apr. 24), and Toledo (May 14).Â
In addition to Dayton's non-conference home series against Lindenwood and South Dakota, the Flyers also welcome Toledo (March 6), Bowling Green (March 13), Northern Kentucky (Apr. 2) and Akron (Apr. 9) to Woerner Field.
The #FlyBoys will once again play at DayAir Ballpark, home of the Dayton Dragons, High-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. After setting a new Dayton Baseball attendance record a season ago, the Flyers will welcome Eastern Kentucky for a 7 p.m. game at the home of the Dragons in 2024.
Dayton hosts four Atlantic 10 series this season, playing Fordham (March 29-31), George Mason (Apr. 12-14), Davidson (Apr. 26-28) and Rhode Island (May 16-18) at Woerner Field. The Flyers travel to St. Bonaventure (Apr. 5-7), VCU (Apr. 19-21), Richmond (May 3-5) and Saint Louis (May 10-12) for league play.
