DAYTON - University of Dayton baseball senior
Keagan Calero and softball sophomore
Haven Dwyer have been named the
Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week. These awards are for contests held April 3-9.
Calero, a native of Rochester, New Hampshire, was a menace at the plate for opponents last week, batting .385 and getting on base at a .529 clip with four RBI, four stolen bases and two runs scored. Perhaps his biggest contribution came in the ninth inning of Friday's contest when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give Dayton a 6-5 lead. After going a perfect 4-for-4 on steals, Calero now leads the team in stolen bases with five.
Dwyer posted a 2-0 record over 11.0 innings of work in three appearances this week for the Flyers. She closed out Dayton's 6-4 win in the Flyers' first game against Saint Louis on Saturday, giving up only one hit and one walk over 4.0 innings. The righty from Cincinnati combined for the shutout win in Saturday's 2-0 nightcap victory, again working 4.0 innings allowing two hits and one walk. She posted the team's low ERA of 1.27 for the week. She was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Dayton student-athletes will continue to be recognized throughout the end of the school year.
