NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Dayton track and field freshman,
Jadyn Haywood, earned a spot on the A-10 All-Rookie Team for the 2023 indoor season. This is the third A-10 award for Haywood after earning two Rookie of the Week awards this year.
Haywood earned this recognition because she was the top rookie finisher in the A-10 for the 200m dash. She finished the indoor track season with the fourth-best 200m dash time in the conference with her recorded 24.40 second finish at the A-10 Indoor Championships.
Jadyn had a great start to her indoor season when she earned PRs in the 60m dash in both of her first two meets. In her debut 200m dash, she set the third-best time in University of Dayton history with her 24.90 second time. This achievement led to Haywood earning the
CollegeAdvantage Student-Athlete of the Week award.
Haywood was persistent in setting PRs in the 60m and 200m dash, so she set a new PR at every meet until the A-10 Indoor Championships. At the championships, Haywood set the fourth-best 60m dash in UD history with her 7.65 second time and the second-best 200m dash time in school history with her 24.40 second finish.
Throughout the indoor season, Jadyn earned
CollegeAdvantage Student-Athlete of the Week on January 26 and
A-10 Rookie of the Week on February 14.
Track and field will compete in the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State University for a three-day meet from Thursday, April 13 through Saturday, April 15.
