WASHINGTON, D.C. -Â The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized University of Dayton freshman Kendall Johnson as the women's track and field rookie of the week after her record breaking performance at the Indiana Invitational.
The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native set the school record in her first collegiate long jump at 5.87m. She finished in fourth-place on Friday and her mark stands as the best long jump in the conference this season.
Johnson moved into the top spot in the UD record books passing Hilary Lang, who jumped 5.62m back in 2012. After a record breaking Friday, she continued her historic weekend on Saturday, as she was part of the second-best 4x400m relay time in UD history with her squad's time of 3:53.71, which is also the second-best time in the A-10 this season. The freshman also finished in 18th place in the 200m with a time of 25.93.
Track and Field is traveling to Indianapolis, Indiana this Friday and Saturday, to compete at the IUPUI Invitational.
