FAIRFAX, Va.- University of Dayton track and field has concluded day one of the A-10 Outdoor Championships, as they currently sit in eighth place heading into the final day of competition.
Rebekah Conrad was the Flyers' only medalist on the day, finishing third in the hammer throw. UD had 11 total qualifications for tomorrow's finals, highlighted by
Jadyn Haywood, who ran the top qualifying time in both the 100m and 200m.
Highlights
- Senior Rebekah Conrad threw a personal best of 56.35m in the hammer throw to finish third and earn herself an A-10 Championships medal. The mark also ranks her fifth in program history.
- Senior Jadyn Haywood recorded the top qualifying time in both the 100m and 200m. She will look to defend her double A-10 title from a year ago tomorrow.
- Senior Regan Ernst currently sits in third place in the heptathlon going into day two. She started the day by improving her own school record in the 100m hurdles, running 13.90.
- Sophomore Jameson Pillifant didn't allow Ernst's new record to stand for long as she ran 13.89 in the prelims of the 100m hurdles to set a school record of her own. Pillifant also set a school record in the 400m hurdles, improving on her own record of 1:00.23.
- Freshman Simone Bessong finished right behind Haywood in both sprint events, recording the second-best time in the 100m and 200m ahead of tomorrow's final.
