DAYTONÂ - University of Dayton track and field is back in action Friday and Saturday at the We Fly Track and Field Challenge in Muncie, Indiana hosted by Ball State University. The Flyers will try to build off the momentum created last week at the Tennessee Invite for another two-day meet.Â
LAST WEEKEND AT THE TENNESSEE INVITE
Multiple Flyers recorded personal best and Casey Bogues was joined by Zoe Chappelle in the winner's circle at UT. Bogues picked up her ninth win as a Flyer winning first place in the javelin (47.68m). Earlier this week, the redshirt junior was named Atlantic 10 Field Performer of the Week. The Red Bank, New Jersey native now has the two longest throws this year in the conference. Dayton had another strong javelin showing with Luisa Himmler taking third place with a season best throw (40.91m).Â
Zoe Chappelle won for the fourth time in her Dayton career in the 5000m steeplechase. The senior from Springboro, Ohio grabbed the victory with a time of 11:11.88.
Abby Carter for the second straight weekend set a personal best. After an impressive run at Raleigh Relays and PR in the 5000m, Carter was able to run a personal best in both the 1500m and 800m at the Tennessee Invite. The senior finished second in the 1500m and recorded the fourth fastest time in school history at 4:26.14. The Fishers, Indiana native finished tenth in the 8000m with a 2:14.34 PR.
Jadyn Haywood also had a personal best last weekend, the sophomore recorded the second fastest time in the conference this season in the 100m (11.69) and finished third. Her PR also marked the second fastest time in program history. It was a fast weekend in Tennessee for Haywood, who recorded the third fastest time in the Atlantic 10 this season in the 200m (24.50). She ran into the record books with Anna Kessler, Kendall Johnson and Rayana Burns, setting the school record in the 4x100 relay with their time of 46.58.Â
WE FLY TRACK AND FIELD CHALLENGE SCHEDULE
The two-day meet starts at 12:30 on Friday for the Flyers with the discus throw from Briner Sports Complex at the Ball State Outdoor Track and Field Facility.
