WASHINGTON, D.C. -Â The Atlantic 10 Conference recognized University of Dayton freshman
Kendall Johnson as the women's track and field rookie of the week after her record breaking performance at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati.
A freshman from Tulsa, Okla., Johnson won the long jump at UCÂ and shattered the outdoor long jump record at Dayton with a mark of 6.32m. The best jump in the Atlantic 10 this season, Johnson now holds the 17th longest jump in the country and fourth best mark this year by a freshman. The victory marks her third win of the year and her first during the outdoor season. In addition to a personal best jump, Johnson was also able to PR in the 200m (24.82).
During the indoor season she was named A-10 rookie of the week twice. In February she received the Most Outstanding Rookie award by the conference at the Indoor Track and Field Championship after she won the Long Jump with a 5.99 meter leap.
Track and Field is traveling to Knoxville, Tennessee this Friday and Saturday, to compete at the Tennessee Invite.Â
