Johnson Named To The Indoor Track & Field All-Rookie Team

Freshman Won The Atlantic 10 Long Jump Title In February

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On the day before the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships, University of Dayton freshman Kendall Johnson was named by the conference to the All-Rookie Team for the indoor season. In February, Johnson won the long jump at the A-10 Indoor Championships with a record leap of 5.99-meters at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native was named Most Outstanding Rookie by the league and the fourth Flyer to ever receive the honor. Johnson was the only freshman in the conference this year to win an individual championship in Virginia Beach.

During the indoor campaign, Johnson also won at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. The freshman has taken her success and rolled it over to the outdoor season winning the long jump at both the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational hosted by Cincinnati and the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State. At UC she jumped into the record books and shattered her own record at UD with a 6.32m mark, which is also the 18th best jump in the east region. Johnson owns the two best marks in the conference during the outdoor season and will look to grab the top spot this weekend when she competes Saturday, at 3:30 P.M. from George Mason Stadium.

The Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships take place at George Mason University both Saturday and Sunday, in Fairfax, Virginia.
