#UDTF Finish Fifth At The Atlantic 10 Championships

Multiple Flyers Reach The Podium And Set Personal Records

FAIRFAX, Va. - University of Dayton track and field competed in the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships at George Mason Stadium on Saturday and Sunday. The Flyers had multiple athletes reach the podium and several recorded personal bests. Casey Bogues won her third conference championship in the javelin. Abby Carter (5000m), Kendall Johnson (long jump) and Jadyn Haywood (100m and 200m) all finished with runner-up medals. Grace Homan (discus) and the 4x100m relay team of Lianna Shakoor, Rayana Burns, Anna Kessler and Jadyn Haywood won bronze. In the team competition, UD finished fifth with 77 points.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Casey Bogues won her third conference title in the javelin on Saturday with a throw of 46.98 meters. The victory was her fourth during the outdoor season and the twelfth for her Dayton career.
  • Jadyn Haywood finished second in the 100m and 200m. On Saturday she qualified for the 100m final running 11.86 seconds and the 200m final with a time of 24.58. It was a historic Sunday, when the sophomore ran 11.75 in the 100m final to grab silver. The Dayton, Ohio native picked up another silver with a PR and the second fastest time in Dayton History in the 200m at 24.03.         
  • Abby Carter finished second in the 5000m on Sunday running 16:40.43. The Fishers, Indiana native also ran a personal best and the third fastest time in program history in the 1500m (4:25.48) to finish fourth. The senior between track and cross country now has six medals from the A-10 Championships.
  • Kendall Johnson also picked up some hardware, the freshman continued her impressive year in the long jump with a silver medal and runner up finish.  The Tulsa, Oklahoma native jumped 6.00 meters on Saturday. 
  • Grace Homan on Sunday, grabbed bronze in the discus and another top five finish in the shot put. The graduate student threw 43.67m to finish third in the discus and landed a mark of 13.86m to finish fifth in the shot put.  
  • It was a historic run and program best for the 4x100 relay squad of Lianna Shakoor, Rayana Burns, Anna Kessler and Jadyn Haywood. All four reached the podium with a school record of 46.38 seconds.
