Men's Tennis Earns ITA Ohio Valley Community Service Award

The National Organization Recognized The Flyers For Their Work In The Dayton And Campus Communities

TEMPE, Ariz. (ITA) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2025 Division I Men's Regional Awards on Tuesday, naming the University of Dayton men's tennis team the winner of the Community Service Award for the Ohio Valley Region.

The Flyers earned the award as a team thanks to their hours of service volunteered through campus, in the Dayton community, and the greater Ohio region. The team participated in the annual Making Strides of Greater Dayton Breast Cancer Awareness Walk as well as the University's Christmas on Campus event. Plus, the full team volunteered with Buddy Up, an organization that aims to serve individuals with Down syndrome by providing a fun, active and supportive environment for athletes and students to grow.

"Receiving the Community Service Award from the ITA is a meaningful honor that reflects not only my personal commitment to giving back, but also the chared values of our team and Coach Meyer," said sophomore Kyle McNally. "At UD, giving back to the community is a core part of who wee are. Being recognized for contributing to the community reinforces the importance of compassion, teamwork and leadership, and I'm proud to represent a program that prioritizes making a positive impact beyond the courts."

"Winning the ITA Regional Community Service Award means a lot to our team," said sophomore Mikkel Zinder. "It's a reflection of how much we care about giving back and staying connected to the Dayton community. Throughout the year, we've had the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and organizations, and it's been very rewarding to make a positive impact off the court. We're proud to represent the University of Dayton with purpose, both as athletes and as members of this community. This award motivates us to keep building those relationships and finding new and more ways to give back.
